What is PSU plastic?

PSU (Polysulfone) is a thermoplastic that is rigid, high-strength and transparent over a wide range of temperatures, usually between -100 to +200 °C. Polysulfone has one of the highest service temperatures among all melt-processable thermoplastics and has a distinct translucent amber color.

What is PSU plastic used for?

PSU is commonly used as an alternative to polycarbonate or acrylic in high-temperature applications. PSU is not affected by exposure to hot water and steam, making it ideal for autoclavable instruments & trays, microwave dishes, and chemical handling components.

PSU (Polysulfone) can be autoclaved since it is not affected by exposure to high-temperature water and steam. However, PSU does weaken if autoclaved repeatedly and will fail under high-stress conditions.
