The best way to clean and care for acrylics is by using Novus cleaning products. Plastic Clean & Shine by Novus, often referred to as , gently cleans plexiglass without scratching. It leaves a lustrous shine that resists fogging, repels dust, and eliminates static. Novus also offers a Fine Scratch Remover (Novus #2) that removes fine scratches, haziness and abrasions from most plastics. To clean acrylic plastic and acrylic products, we recommend using non-abrasive, ammonia-free acrylic cleaners. To clean your acrylic, consider taking the following steps:

  1. Blow dirt and debris off your material—do not wipe down acrylic as it can scratch and tarnish the surface.
  2. Use Novus cleaner or other specially formulated acrylic cleaning supplies
  3. Use warm water, mild soap, and Novus cleaner together, and gently apply to your material to restore it to its factory finish

What is the Best Way to Clean Plexiglass?

Plexiglass is a generalized name for acrylic plastic. To clean plexiglass, we recommend following the same steps mentioned above, using specialty acrylic cleaning solutions like Novus acrylic cleaners.

How Can I Clean Acrylic Mirrors?

To effectively maintain your acrylic mirror’s shine and keep it free of dirt, smudges, and scratches, we recommend the following:

  1. Remove dust and debris from your mirror using a lint-free cloth
  2. Use a mild soap and water mixture to gently wipe the mirror’s surface
  3. For excess dirt and scratches, use Novus cleaners
  4. Dry your mirror using a non-abrasive lint-free or microfiber cloth that will not scratch its surface.
Note: Do not use solvents, such as methylated spirits or turpentine or ammonia-based products that may cause irreversible surface damage.

What Kind of Solutions or Chemicals Can I Use to Clean Acrylic?

To avoid damaging your acrylic plastic, we recommend using solutions that are non-abrasive and ammonia-free. Harsh solvents can damage plexiglass sheets and products, so it’s best to apply a mild soap or the Novus acrylic cleaners that are specifically designed for the maintenance and care of plastic. It’s also essential to steer away from solvents that are made with acetone, carbon tetrachloride or gasoline.

How Do You Clean Cloudy Acrylic?

While there are several ways to clean cloudy acrylic, we recommend the following method:

  1. First, carefully use a buffing wheel with a lubricant such as polishing solution like Novus No. 3 Cleaner. Gently wipe the surface clean.
  2. Next, apply Novus No. 2 Cleaner and apply light pressure to a microfiber cloth until the cleaner dries to a light haze.
  3. Use a clean microfiber cloth to manually buff the surface clean.
  4. Apply Novus No 1. Cleaner liberally to the acrylic’s surface and wipe using short, circular strokes with very little pressure.
