PSU is commonly used as an alternative to polycarbonate or acrylic in high-temperature applications. PSU is not affected by exposure to hot water and steam, making it ideal for autoclavable instruments & trays, microwave dishes, and chemical handling components.

PSU (Polysulfone) can be autoclaved since it is not affected by exposure to high-temperature water and steam. However, PSU does weaken if autoclaved repeatedly and will fail under high-stress conditions. The number of autoclave cycles that PSU components can withstand is determined by many factors including autoclave settings, level of stress and application type.
