Bullet-Resistant Acrylic & Polycarbonate Frequently Asked Questions
We currently offer bullet-resistant acrylic sheet in UL752 Level 1. We do offer bullet resistant polycarbonate sheet in several thicknesses that provide Level 1, 2, or 3 protection.
Compared to UL752 Level 1 Acrylic Sheets, UL752 Level 1 Polycarbonate sheets are a lighter and thinner material. However, if you are looking for a cost effective solution, the bullet resistant acrylic sheets are a good choice.
Polycarbonate also comes with an enhanced level of protection from scratches.
Our bullet-resistant products are tested to HP White, UL and ASTM test methods and are an effective first level of defense against attack or unlawful entry.
Glazing recommendations
- Structural security framing systems with equal or greater forced entry and/or ballistics ratings as the selected sheet are recommended
- Should be cut to allow for a minimum of one (1) inch edge engagement in the frame, with sufficient rabbet depth for material expansion (approx. 1/16˝/ft.)
- Use wet or dry sealants/gaskets that are compatible with polycarbonate
- Remove protective masking after glazing operations are completed and before prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, moisture, or high temperature
