Bullet Resistant Acrylic & Polycarbonate Bullet-resistant acrylic and polycarbonate are specialized materials known for their ballistic resistance, optical clarity, and customizability. These materials excel in applications such as bank teller windows, retail displays, government buildings, schools, universities, armored vehicles, law enforcement facilities, and medical facilities, where they protect against ballistic threats while maintaining visibility and security. Their versatility and durability make them ideal choices for enhancing safety measures in high-security environments while offering a transparent barrier against potential risks. Why Use an Acrylic Bullet-Resistant Sheet? Acrylic bullet-resistant sheets are a cost-effective solution to the challenge of creating safer environments. Widely recognized as a preventative, they are effective deterrents. While bullet-resistant plexiglass is often referred to as "bulletproof glass", no material can be considered completely bulletproof. These sheets are UL-rated to protect against medium-power handguns. UL752 Level 1 ACRYLIC BULLET-RESISTANT SHEET Bullet-Resistant Acrylic, Level 1 Sheets provide protection against medium power handguns while retaining the transparency, moisture resistance and impact resistance of acrylic. Custom cut option is available Shop Now UL752 Level 1 Level 1 Bullet-Resistant Plexiglass is approved by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. Learn more about Underwriters Laboratories, UL 752, which is the specification most commonly used to identify a material's level of bullet-resistance. UL752 Level 1-3 POLYCARBONATE BULLET-RESISTANT SHEET Acme Plastics' Polycarbonate Bullet-Resistant Sheets come in 3 levels of protection as well as a variety of thicknesses and sizes. Proven to resist the most rigorous forced entry, containment or smash and grab physical attacks. Its hard-coat technology effectively withstands weathering, abrasion, and graffiti. Custom cut option is available. Shop Now Are Bullet-Resistant Polycarbonates Effective in Stopping High-Speed Rifle Rounds? No, as an all-polycarbonate laminate or polycarbonate-acrylic laminate, it was specifically developed to withstand handgun-rated ballistics such as UL752 Level 1 (9mm Full Metal Copper Jacket with lead), UL 752 Level 2 (.357 Magnum jacketed lead soft point), and UL 752 Level 3 (.44 Magnum lead semi-wadcutter gas checked). Laminates designed to stop rifle rounds are typically thicker and incorporate one or more layers of glass to disperse energy and break apart incoming bullets. These specialized laminates often include one or more layers of bullet-resistant polycarbonate sheet as an energy-absorbing layer and spall shield, known as Glass Clad Polycarbonate (GCP).
Bullet-Resistant Acrylic & Polycarbonate Frequently Asked Questions

We currently offer bullet-resistant acrylic sheet in UL752 Level 1. We do offer bullet resistant polycarbonate sheet in several thicknesses that provide Level 1, 2, or 3 protection.

Compared to UL752 Level 1 Acrylic Sheets, UL752 Level 1 Polycarbonate sheets are a lighter and thinner material. However, if you are looking for a cost effective solution, the bullet resistant acrylic sheets are a good choice. Polycarbonate also comes with an enhanced level of protection from scratches.

Our bullet-resistant products are tested to HP White, UL and ASTM test methods and are an effective first level of defense against attack or unlawful entry.

Glazing recommendations

  • Structural security framing systems with equal or greater forced entry and/or ballistics ratings as the selected sheet are recommended
  • Should be cut to allow for a minimum of one (1) inch edge engagement in the frame, with sufficient rabbet depth for material expansion (approx. 1/16˝/ft.)
  • Use wet or dry sealants/gaskets that are compatible with polycarbonate
  • Remove protective masking after glazing operations are completed and before prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, moisture, or high temperature
High Impact Resistant Polycarbonate Sheets (Non-Bullet Resistant) Twinwall Polycarbonate Sheet Twinwall and Multiwall Polycarbonate is a light weight, durable plastic that provides more thermal insulation than glass. It is UV and weather resistant while being virtually unbreakable, making it ideal for greenhouse panels, skylights and other outdoor applications. Shop Now POLYCARBONATE CLEAR SHEET Polycarbonate sheets are as transparent as glass, and they are 250 times more resistant to breakage as standard glass. Polycarbonate is also lighter and more durable than glass and easy for maneuvering and installation, making it an excellent choice for window replacements.
