How do you cut plastic sheets?

Thin plastic sheets can be cut by hand using a scoring knife or a Dremel tool. To cut thicker plastic sheets, it is best to use a saw (hand saw or power saw) with a carbide-tipped saw blade.

Can you cut acrylic plastic?

Yes, the recommended way to cut acrylic plastic is with a high-quality table saw with a carbide-tipped saw blade. The simplest and most beginner-friendly way to cut acrylic plastic up to 1/4" thickness is by using a scoring tool.

Can you cut plexiglass with a jigsaw?

Jigsaws can cut thick sheets of plastic, but they’re primarily used to cut curves into plastic for applications like circular plexiglass windows. Be sure to use a fine-toothed blade, and preferably one that is designed to cut plastic. Use clamps to secure the plastic to your workbench to reduce vibration which can cause the plastic to chip and crack.
